Matt Young was abandoned at two years old. Matt was born with an overgrowth syndrome that developed on the right side of his face. Kim and Jane were drawn to Matt as his plight was so severe and he needed urgent medical attention, which was not available in China. After many months of trying to get help and running into many obstacles , Kim and Jane decided to adopt Matt so that he could receive the life-saving medical surgeries he so desperately needed in the USA.
